THE HAWICK CHESS CONGRESS ASSOCIATION WISHES TO MAKE IT CLEAR THAT IT HAS NO CONNECTION WHATSOEVER WITH THE PLANNING, FINANCING OR ORGANISATION OF THE 4TH SCOTTISH BORDERS CONGRESS. WE LOOK FORWARD TO WELCOMING YOU TO THE 11TH HAWICK CHESS CONGRESS TO BE HELD FROM 27 – 29 JUNE 2008. Tournament
Details
Where to Stay SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITY Hawick’s successful annual chess congress – now in its 11th year – is seeking a local commercial sponsor to broaden its profile. Each year the weekend Congress provides a major boost to the town’s tourist economy, attracting entries from all over the British Isles. Budding chess champions have flown in from the Irish Republic and even Sweden to be there. Any potential sponsor could utilise the opportunity to publicise their services both locally and via regional/national media (including TV). IT, financial services and telecommunications companies, for instance, are regular sponsors on the international chess scene. However, any company looking for greater exposure would be welcome to apply. Not only would the company’s name and logo feature prominently on all promotional material, corporate leaflets could be distributed with entry forms and at the event itself. Other promotional benefits would be subject to agreement between the company concerned and Congress organisers. For a relatively modest investment, your company would be associating itself with one of Scotland’s premier chess tournaments. For further details contact, in confidence, Martin Keen on 01750 23171, 29 The Loan, Selkirk TD7 4AU

A True Success Story
For over 10 years now, a Chess Congress has been held in Hawick. We must be doing something right, for we usually find that people who try it once come back again and again. Hawick lies in the Scottish Borders where you are always guaranteed a warm welcome and plenty of good chess. The play itself takes place in the local Town Hall, a quiet venue with ample space for all players, full disabled access, and a comfortable and spacious analysis room. With catering available in the building itself, and in any one of half a dozen eating places nearby, everything is readily to hand. You can check out our playing schedule first, and then go on to our entry forms page, where you can either enter online, or download a form in MS Word: just whatever's easier for you. Looking forward to seeing you on the 27th! |
